Zoom Bidding Could Help Create Transparency In South Florida Market

The real estate market nationwide is hot! Sellers in Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding South Florida neighborhoods are seeing buyers go so far as to knock on their doors and beg that they accept their offers. To combat the stress of multiple offers and so that buyers feel they are getting a fair shot, South Florida real estate agent Holly Meyer Lucas has presented the idea of a roundtable Zoom bidding war. The virtual bidding would consist of a roundtable call on Zoom, or a similar platform, where buyers can discuss what they are willing to pay for the home given a set framework of terms. Ideally, the buyers’ real estate agents would lead the bidding calls and have the ability to hold side conversations to adjust their clients’ offers.

Elaborating on her concept, Lucas commented:

“The way I see this is buyers can participate. They can be on the phone, but they’ll be muted. The buyers’ agents can ask questions. So we’ll open it up for questions, where the buyers’ agents can ask the questions like, ‘How old is the roof? Are there impact windows?’ So that we get all the answers out in the open.”
