With Laid-back Charm And Great Dining, Hollywood Is Booming

ith more people looking for affordable areas to live, South Florida cities outside of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach are becoming ever more popular. Nestled between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood has seen a record number of home sales in recent months, according to local Realtors. Though prices have been on the upswing, Hollywood is still significantly more affordable than other major South Florida cities – with a median sold home price at $424.5K, as of December 2021.

Many new residents are drawn by the sandy beaches of Hollywood Beach, which features an oceanfront promenade that stretches nearly two and a half miles. But just a short trolley ride away is the historic downtown, a budding arts district that is home to numerous galleries, Cinema Paradiso art-house theater, the Art & Culture Center of Hollywood, the ArtsPark at Young Circle, the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project, creative businesses, and dozens of restaurants and cafes around the world.

The main luxury housing markets in Hollywood are North Lake and South Lake and Harbor Island, the area’s only gated community. As more buyers look to settle in smaller neighboring cities like Hollywood, new developments have cropped up recently. A once-iconic building locally known as “the Bread Building” was torn down last year to make way for a new mixed-used complex at Hollywood Young Circle slated to open in 2023.
