15 May Grow a Vegetable Garden
Have you been thinking about starting a vegetable garden? Planting a vegetable garden at your home is a great way for the whole family to spend some time outdoors creating something useful and fun. Here are some tips on growing your own vegetable garden:
Choose a great location – Take note of the sunlight that different areas of your yard receive throughout the day. Most vegetable gardens need at least six hours of sunlight to best produce. Next, measure out the area you will use so you know how much space you need to fill with plants.
Ready the area – Using a shovel, loosen the soil in your garden area. Be sure to remove any rocks, grass and weeds.
Choose your vegetables and plant your garden – Pick the vegetables that you would like to grow. Here is a list of easy-to-grow vegetables. Next, use a trowel to dig holes that are two to three inches apart. Place your plants in the holes and form the soil around them.
